When an opportunity to make a photo just presents itself

Sometimes a photo just presents itself. You drive down a quite country road headed somewhere without a thought in the world, and then you see something. Something compels you to stop and take a photo. I call it a "drive by shooting."

That very thing happened to me last week. I was heading home after working near Winifred, Montana when a skies suddenly changed and turned an ominous shade of blue. It was obvious a thunderstorm loomed over the horizon. That's when this scene presented itself to me. The golden hue of wheat stubble and round bales were a perfectly complimentary color for the dark blue sky. The leading lines lead they eyes into the dark sky, and the round bales were spread evenly across the field. So I pulled over and snapped a few photos.

I'm glad I did.
